THE ASK
There was a lack of information sharing across HR and to global leadership, and there was an even greater lack of connection across HR functions (200+ people). One way to meet these needs was to execute a connection campaign through two methods: (1) publish a monthly newsletter with an open submission process to encourage a diversity of perspectives, complete with peer recognition and photos of the team at work, and (2) create teambuilding opportunities that would translate globally and across cultural contexts.

MY ROLE
I led a team of three to launch the People Connection Project. The team designed and executed a set of teambuilding events and campaigns, including a global, virtual "Guess Who" game and team praise wall. For this project, I also created a monthly newsletter from scratch, soliciting submissions across the team, designing the format, and disseminating it to HR staff and the global leadership team via MailChimp. I solicited regular feedback from team members to ensure it was meeting the present needs of the staff and reflecting the daily work in each country.

THE RESULT
Submissions were consistently high from each of the five regions and readership was consistently around 50%, significantly higher than the baseline for email newsletters in the industry (33%). The newsletter grew to include staff profiles, team recognition and praise, and photos of the team in action. It became much more than an information medium, and was a source of connection and teambuilding for the global workforce.
